Community Guidelines

RentalRated is committed to making renting more transparent while maintaining a respectful community. These guidelines apply to everyone who uses RentalRated — renters, landlords, property managers, and visitors. By using the platform, you agree to help us keep it safe, fair, and useful.

Be respectful

Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Disagree without insulting, demeaning, or attacking anyone.

Be honest

Share truthful, firsthand experiences. Do not post fake reviews, exaggerated claims, or content you know to be misleading.

Be yourself

Do not impersonate another person, landlord, company, or tenant. Use only one account per person.

Protect privacy

Never share personal information about others, including names, addresses, phone numbers, or unit numbers.

Be constructive

Focus on the rental experience. Specific, relevant feedback helps everyone more than vague complaints or insults.

No spam or promotion

Do not post promotional content, repeated identical messages, or irrelevant links.

What is not allowed

To protect our community, RentalRated prohibits the following. Content or behavior that violates these rules may be removed, and accounts may be suspended or permanently banned.

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation of any kind.
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or slurs based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Spam, fake reviews, paid or incentivized reviews, or review manipulation.
  • Duplicate reviews or multiple reviews for the same property by the same user.
  • Impersonation of any individual, landlord, property management company, or organization.
  • Sharing personal information about tenants, landlords, residents, or employees without their consent.
  • Defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or graphically violent content.
  • Content that violates any applicable law or regulation.

Review-specific standards

Reviews are the core of RentalRated. To keep them useful and trustworthy:

  • Reviews must be based on your own firsthand rental experience.
  • Only one review is allowed per user per property. You may edit your existing review to reflect new information.
  • Reviews should be factual, specific, and fair rather than driven by a single moment of frustration.
  • Verified landlords may publicly respond to reviews, but they may not edit or remove reviews simply because they disagree with them.

Reporting and enforcement

If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it. Our moderation team reviews reports carefully and may remove content, issue warnings, or suspend or terminate accounts when necessary. We apply these standards consistently and fairly, but we also recognize context matters. Not every disagreement is a violation, and we aim to support open, honest conversation about rental experiences.

Help us keep RentalRated trustworthy

Transparency and respect go hand in hand. When you share honest feedback, engage thoughtfully, and respect the privacy of others, you help build a rental community where future renters can choose with confidence and responsible landlords can earn the reputation they deserve.
