Landlords and property managers cannot leave reviews of their own properties — they can publicly respond to reviews instead.

Can I review a property I no longer live at?

Yes. Reviews should reflect your own firsthand rental experience, whether current or past. What matters is that you actually lived at the property and are sharing your genuine experience.

Can I review a property more than once?

No. One review is allowed per user, per property. If you try to leave a second review for a property you've already reviewed, you'll be directed to your existing review so you can edit it instead.

What do the individual rating categories mean?

Every review rates six areas on a 1–5 scale: Condition (the state of the unit and building when you lived there), Maintenance (how quickly and well repairs were handled), Professionalism (communication and conduct of the landlord or management company), Value (whether rent felt fair for what you got), Safety (how safe the property felt), and an Overall rating. All six ratings are required, and every review also answers a required “Would you rent from this landlord again?” yes-or-no question, which feeds the percentage score shown on landlord profiles.

What is a Verified Tenant review?

A Verified Tenant review is a review where the renter completed optional residency verification. You upload a document that shows you lived at the property, and once an administrator reviews it, your review earns a Verified Tenant badge. Reviews awaiting that check are marked Pending Verification.

Is uploading verification documentation required?

No. Residency verification is entirely optional. Reviews without documentation are still published anonymously — verification simply adds a badge that shows the community your review was confirmed.

Who can see my review?

Reviews are public. They are automatically posted anonymously — your name is never shown with your review. Any verification documents you upload are used only to confirm your residency and are never displayed publicly.

Landlords can file a dispute about a review of their company, and our moderation team reviews each dispute. A review may be removed if it violates our Community Guidelines or if it can't be verified after a dispute. The dispute outcome and RentalRated's response are shown to the landlord.

How does RentalRated protect my privacy?

Reviews are posted anonymously and verification documents are never public. We use a privacy-first approach to data collection: you control cookies through the consent banner and can manage your choices anytime on the privacy preferences page.

How do I delete my account?

Go to your account page and use the account deletion option. Deleting your account permanently removes your personal information, saved preferences, and any uploaded verification documents.

How do I claim a landlord or property management profile?

Go to the claim page and search for your company or property. If it exists, start a claim from its profile; if not, you can create a new profile there.

How does verification work?

After you submit a claim, our team reviews it. Approved profiles earn a Verified Landlord badge, shown on your public profile and across the site, so renters know your profile is legitimate. You also get access to your landlord dashboard to manage your portfolio and reviews.

Can landlords respond to reviews?

Yes. Verified landlords can post a public response to reviews of their company from the Reviews tab of their dashboard — reviews awaiting a reply are grouped under “Needs reply.” Your response appears publicly alongside the review.

Can landlords remove reviews?

No. Landlords cannot edit or remove reviews simply because they disagree with them. If you believe a review violates our guidelines or is inaccurate, you can file a dispute (one dispute per review) with a reason and comments. Our moderation team reviews the dispute and removes reviews that violate the Community Guidelines or that can't be verified after the dispute process.

What happens if ownership or management changes?

When a property should move in or out of your portfolio, submit a portfolio request from your dashboard with an effective date, a reason, and any comments. Our team reviews the request, and once approved the property's landlord assignment is updated across the site.

How do I add a property I own or manage?

From the Portfolio tab of your landlord dashboard, submit an add request with the property, an effective date, and a reason. Once our team approves it, the property appears in your portfolio and its page reflects you as the landlord.

RentalRated Pro is our paid plan for landlords and property managers. It unlocks a premium analytics dashboard with reputation tracking, review trends, AI-powered review summaries, and optional weekly or monthly reputation reports. Pricing is based on your current portfolio size: $19/mo for 1–5 properties, $39/mo for 6–25, $79/mo for 26–100, and $149/mo for 100+. Some landlords receive complimentary Pro access at our discretion. You can upgrade from the Analytics tab of your landlord dashboard or contact support with questions.

It also includes AI-generated review summaries covering sentiment, praise, concerns, and suggested improvements, plus optional weekly or monthly reputation reports by email. Every verified landlord — Pro or not — can still respond to reviews, manage their portfolio, and maintain their public profile.
